Comfort....
The American Life League is running an ad pushing Cardinal Theodore McCarrick of DC to support thet growing number of Bishops who support denying Holy Communion to Catholic (should there be quotes around that?) politicians who support abortion. The ad shows a crucified Christ and asks "Cardinal McCarrick: Are you comfortable now?". I think that the content of the ad is perfectly valid, but I'm not sure if I'm um, comfortable, with the use of an image of the Lord in what will be at least seen as a political context.
When you get down to it, the Bishops are doing them a favor if they deny them Communion, if St Paul has anything to say about it: "Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a man examine himself, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For any one who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment upon himself. That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died. " ( 1 Cor 11:27-30)
