Odd, Ain't It?
It amazes me that 80-90% of the media has less of a clue than
Joe Bob Briggs. For example, on the Pope... how much of the secular press has even a basic grasp of the obvious?

AFP Photog Get Excuse!
A
moron owes $28,000 to a strip club, but his loss is some Tampa, Florida photographer's gain: apparently, he was able to convince his boss to send him to "work" at a strip club... several states away. Judging from the quality, he was using a cheapo digital camera to boot!

An Article I Could Have Used
... in the pub the other night. It turns out that
Michael Moore was lying for some extra publicity for his next movie. There was some guy claiming that Disney was going to prevent anyone from seeing it in the U.S. Unsurprisingly, he was a listener to the Randi Rhodes show (warning sign!) over the internet (WARNING SIGN!!!).

I Feel All Guilty Now
Mother's Day is all over and I forgot to fight for control rising health care costs. But I did make schools and the environment a priority for our kids, since they are just sitting around doing nothing, the lazy little rugrats. I put little Tommy down the street in charge of getting mercury out of the tuna.

Warm 'n' Fuzzy Mother's Day Greeting
Who says John Kerry isn't an big ol' softee under that Herman-Munster-Minus-the-Personality exterior. Here is today's Mother's Day wishes from his campaign homepage: "This Mother's Day, let's work together to build a stronger America. Let's fight for new and better jobs, control rising health care costs and expand access to affordable health care for all Americans. Let's make our schools and our environment a priority for our kids. From our family to yours, Happy Mother's Day."

I still have to call Mom in a minute and am trying to decide if I should tell her something like that... but I think I would choke up and I do hate getting all emotional.

"Pro-choice" vs. Thinking
So, I'm reading this article about how
Nancy Pelosi says she is going to "take" Communion (I always thought we received Communuion.) Here's one of the bits that jumped out:

Signs We Are Doomed
Yet another symptom of our decaying democracy : a campaign
fundraises on prisoner abuse. Didn't Kerry say that he himself committed war crimes? Is this meant to be a case of "set a thief to catch a thief"? Spookily close to a Scrappleface article if you ask me.

Comfort....
The
American Life League is running an ad pushing Cardinal Theodore McCarrick of DC to support thet growing number of Bishops who support denying Holy Communion to Catholic (should there be quotes around that?) politicians who support abortion. The ad shows a crucified Christ and asks "Cardinal McCarrick: Are you comfortable now?". I think that the content of the ad is perfectly valid, but I'm not sure if I'm um, comfortable, with the use of an image of the Lord in what will be at least seen as a political context.

When you get down to it, the Bishops are doing them a favor if they deny them Communion, if St Paul has anything to say about it: "Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a man examine himself, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For any one who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment upon himself. That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died. " ( 1 Cor 11:27-30)

Heck, the way things are going with the 9/11 commission circus, maybe they should just publish
